We offer morning and afternoon fishing charters as well as tours to Turnip Rock, Port Austin Reef Light, as well as to other locations around the Grindstone, Port Austin, and Port Hope areas. We are relentless when it comes to making your charter or tour as fun and successful as possible. We look forward to taking you and your crew on the water for a time you will never forget!
CHARTERS
In our experience, no two fishing charters are alike. There are many circumstances that can make or break the big day. There are some things that are just out of our control. However, over the years we’ve learned how to set up each charter for success by focusing on what’s most important to you. Is it all about the catch or is it about having a good time too? We are relentless when it comes to making your charter experience your best. Whether you’re no stranger to a sportfishing charter or it’s your very first time, we will do everything in our power to make sure you and your crew have the absolute best experience.
You can find a number of sportfishing charters in the Grindstone and Port Austin area. It’s no wonder because the fishing here is excellent. The unique rocky bottom structure of the Grindstone area makes it an excellent location for charter fishing. There are a number of reefs, points, and other coastal features where fish like to hide. What makes Fish Stix Charters unique is that we spare no expense in order to make your experience one to remember. We also take advantage of the numerous opportunities to fish offshore. From May to October, Bass, Salmon, Steelhead, Trout, Walleye, and Whitefish are among some of the best fish species to reel in on your charter.
What’s better than wetting some lines with your best buds and experiencing the action and excitement of reeling in a big one? The experience doesn’t have to end there either. We will clean and pack your fish, and if you like, set you up at a local restaurant where they will cook your catch for you to enjoy.
Captain + Crew
Captain Ray has been fishing for over 40 years and has been chartering since 2000. Seeing the look on people’s face when they catch a fish is one of the things he loves most about being a charter captain. Ray is also licensed as an United States Coast Guard Charter Boat Captain and is part of the Thumb Area Charter Captains Association. If you have any questions feel free call him at (810) 650-7820.
Ray’s son Beau regularly mates on the charter as well as on many other fishing charters in the area. Beau has grown up fishing in the area and has had much experience. Together Beau and Ray make an excellent team, and put forth a relentless effort to help you have a safe, fun, and productive experience during your charter.
Our Charter Boat
Fish Stix is a 28 foot Chereokee with twin inboards, large fishing deck and a spacious cabin that can comfortably accommodate up to six people in addition to the captain and crew. For your convenience, there is also a head (toilet). We are fully equipped with all the latest electronics and equipment. We have a 27 mile GPS radar, electric down riggers, color video fish sonar, and 2 ship-to-shore radios. Fish Stix meets and exceeds safety standards required by law. If you have more than 6 people in your party we can arrange to have additional charter boats as needed.
